A Little About our Process…

Each driveway is different and the techniques will vary depending on the circumstances.

Action Asphalt is dedicated to giving you the highest quality driveway that will last and hold its appeal. We offer both full removal and replacement, which will be discussed in the following sections, as well as an asphalt resurfacing option. The process for removing and replacing asphalt quite literally starts from the ground up with our team working efficiently as a group as soon as they arrive. The crew will begin by removing the existing top layer (asphalt, concrete, or virgin soil), to address the subbase. We have the best grading and excavation crew in the business that strives to minimize mess and hassle for our customers.

After the subbase has been revealed, the crew will next move on to installing a layer of 21AA crushed concrete to the project area. The depth of the gravel depends on the existing subbase, but the industry standard is to have a minimum of 6” of gravel subbase for any new construction. To achieve the proper density and compaction, we use our commercial grade paver to apply the gravel which is then compacted by our expert roller operators.

After the aggregrate subbase has been rolled and compacted, and all deviations have been eliminated, the crew will bring in our commercial grade Weiler P358 paver. Our fleet of “Action Red” asphalt trucks will then begin delivering Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) to be laid at the jobsite by our paver operator and two screw operators that manually control the depth and width at which our paver lays asphalt.

Finishing Touches

Along with durability and longevity, one of the most important parts of a driveway is of course curb appeal! Our paver lays asphalt at 90 percent density prior to compaction, but to ensure your driveway’s structure and smooth finish, we use multiple vibratory rollers over the blacktop. While this is being done, our skilled laborers will tamp the edges of your driveway to 45 degrees to add structure, mitigate water erosion, and to enhance overall driveway aesthetics. Finally, our last step is cleaning and leaving your property even better than we found it!
