It all started in 1978 when Owner and President, Dan Gee, began sealcoating his parents and neighbors’ driveways. At only fifteen years old, and without a driver’s license, Dan was able to build a customer base from word of mouth. Over the next couple years, he was able to acquire his first paver and open an asphalt division as well as working for Livingston county as a firefighter/EMT, then finally as both an arson investigator and medical examiner.

As the demand for work increased Dan turned to family to help build the business. Gayle Gee, Dan’s mother, worked in the office for decades creating lasting relationships with our wonderful customers utilizing her years of experience as a teacher in the local community. Savanna Gee, Dan’s youngest daughter, joined Action Asphalt after graduating high school. While she may started in the office only answering phones, she has since risen through the ranks becoming the office manager and lead sales estimator over the years.

Cole Simonelli, fiancé to Savanna, started with the company as a laborer to learn the industry from the ground up. He later stepped into the role of operations and after becoming Dan’s protégé, has been promoted to foreman. As our family comes close to nearly a half century in business, we look forward to the next generation of our family continuing to provide excellent work.

Daniel and the company have worked hard to earn our reputation as one of the best asphalt companies in all of Michigan. If you live in the area, more than likely you are familiar with seeing our “Action Red” trucks hard at work over the years. We may have even sponsored your child’s sports team.

We are the distributor for Seal Master Products. We are always updating our trucks and equipment and are currently working with three highway class pavers.
